The collection consists of papers of Edith B. Hines from 1890-1930. The papers include agricultural periodicals (1917-1920), clippings, correspondence (1903-1927), deeds, financial records (1896-1927), farm account books (1901-1907) of Charles Gates, and photographs. The materials document the agricultural activities on the Hines farm in Troup County near Chipley (now Pine Mountain), Georgia and in particular, difficulties encountered by farmers during the transition from cotton farming to textile manufacturing in the early twentieth century.
